Czytelnia (2) | Reading room. ‘Fried Green Tomatoes at The Whistle Stop Cafe’ by Fannie Flagg

THIS BOOK IS NOT ABOUT FU*KING LESBIAN RELATIONSHIP.

This book is about life, about people and families, about creating community (that thing when people leaving in the neighborhood know and accept each other, even though everyone is different; that long forgotten thing in our highly fenced, screened for privacy and armed in CCTV cameras housing estates).
Most of all, this book is about THE PERSPECTIVE.
This books reminds you that people are different and they choose different paths in life and that’s ok. It makes you believe that people are good and we only have our life time to be good. This book makes you want to be a good person.

PS. Yes, Idgie and Ruth live together and they have a son. Yes, nowhere in the book the relationship is named. Yes, there is a perfect reason for that: IT DOESN’T FU*KING MATTER, because when two people love each other and care for each other, they create A FAMILY.
People in Whistle Stop understood that much better than most of us today.
